How to create a luxurious tablescape
My heart flutters whenever I see beautiful dining room table decorations, especially my own. And although I love hosting parties and sharing my creations with my guests, there’s no better feeling than relaxing at home with a cup of freshly brewed tea, admiring the beauty of my own luxurious dining room decor. Seeing the glittering items I’ve carefully selected puts me in the best of moods, no matter the season. I use tablescaping to display some of my favorite pieces all year long.
You may have seen the word “tablescape” floating around online and in home decor magazines. And if you’re not an over-the-top decorating pro like me, you might be wondering “what is tablescaping?” I mean really, what’s the big deal about decorating a table?
What is a Tablescape?
Tablescaping is the art of arranging decorative pieces on your table. But don’t get it twisted. This is not your grandmother’s traditional table arrangement. Tablescaping is a modern way of setting a table that livens up the entire room. Trust me, your guests will think they have stepped inside a luxury hotel when they feast their eyes on your tablescape. But before you find yourself with a table full of trinkets that may or may not compliment each other, consider these helpful tips for tablescaping.
If you’re wondering how to start your tablescape, don’t be afraid to seek out inspiration. Thumb through some of the home decor magazines while you wait in line at the grocery store. Getting Started With Your Tablescape
As a professional organizer, my goal is always to create luxury with storage in mind. I know how it feels to walk into your favorite home store for one thing and end up grabbing every sparkly vase and glittering wine glass you can get your hands on. Yikes! You end up with more than what you need, and it makes it so much harder to plan your tablescape. So I suggest is that you find one central item that you love, a tall vase, a floral arrangement, or a beautiful set of charger. Here’s a peek at my own dining room table. I love soft, feminine decor with a little bit of drama. For my focal piece, I used a perforated table runner.
For my most recent tablescape, I opted for a bit of drama using black linens and brushed gold accents.
Create A Plan
There’s no wrong way to create a tablescape. But it’s easy to get overwhelmed if you’re working with too many items. To avoid this, sit down at your table and spread out all of the items you think you may want to use. Next, sort them and decide which pieces are most likely to help you create the vision for your tablescape. Remember that you can always change different pieces as you go along. Tablescaping is about enhancing the overall style of the room. So choose pieces that make the entire room pop. Here’s a list of things you might need for your tablescape.

Charger plates
Dishes
Wine glasses

Decorative napkin rings
Flowers (real or artificial)
Candles
Don’t overthink your tablescape design. Do what makes you happy! Afterall, when your guests have all gone home from your awesome gathering, you’ll be the one sitting with your decor. So make it special. Embrace bold colors, dramatic centerpieces, fresh flowers, leopard print, polka dots, sequins, and gems.
